Hanborough Bowls Club originally started out as an indoor short mat club in the late 1980s, moving to an outdoor club in 1996.  A new clubhouse was then built and officially opened in March 2000.

At present we have 50+ members with a roughly equal ratio of men to women players.  We are affiliated to Bowls England and Bowls Oxfordshire.  This season we have entered the mixed triples league and our ladies play in the West Oxon Ladies League.  We also have mixed friendly games at weekends throughout the season.  Roll-ups are held every Monday from 2.00pm to 4.00pm and Fridays from 6.00pm when people who are interested in joining the club are encouraged to come along and enjoy a game with our members.  We have two trained coaches and coaching is always available to new players and those who just want to improve their bowling.

Subscription for outdoor membership is £80.00 per season - new outdoor members pay only £40.00 for their first bowling season, social members pay £20.

During the winter months we play indoor short mat bowls (subscription for indoor is £10 plus if you play in the West Oxon League there will be a fee to play, for years 25/26 this is £7.) which we have two teams in the West Oxon League.  We also hold our own club indoor league competition with up to six teams taking part each season.  We are affiliated to ESMBA and OSMBA for short mat.

We hold many social events throughout the year in the clubhouse.  These are very enjoyable, well supported events open to members and their family and friends.

We have a bowls tour each year, normally in June.

Hanborough Bowls Club is a stone’s throw from Blenheim Palace and the historic town of Woodstock, and therefore perfect for touring teams who are always made very welcome by the club.

There is ample car parking space at the club which is situated on the playing fields site in Roosevelt Road, just off the main A4095 from Witney to Woodstock.
